On December 1, children can open the first door of their "Adventskalender". On the first day of Advent, people in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, people typically put up an "Adventskranz". On December 6, "Nikolaus" visits the children and leaves chocolate and candy in their boots. On December 24th (Christmas Eve) we celebrate Christmas and open our gifts.
